keeping out the riff-raff).
The Ice Palace used to be totally gay, but these days they are becoming more liberal. Usually you can expect a mixed crowd.
Downstairs, the look is sleek and high-tech. Steel gray surfaces, mirrors, ice blue neons, flashing lights and strobes form the decor here. They attract mostly middle and upper class people and generally an attractive crowd. Lots of pretty people. The dress is casual and usually stylish, sometimes chic. The energy level here is
Membership is a MUST, and few exceptions are made. (i.e. one-night cards are issued to out-oftowners, sometimes.) You must look somewhat raunchy and/or tough to get in the door. Very strict. dress code. No anything is allowed. Nothing designer and no cologne. No gold chains and nothing loud outlandish. Dress is

The Mineshaft is for boozing and cruising and once inside the door, anything goes. It's sleazy and sometimes rough; it's a place where you don't say no to anyone. Pipeline

Everything you've ever heard about this club is true; a large portion of the film Cruising was filmed here and everything you saw in the movie does in fact go on here. And
more.
Mostly bodys here. Everyone is into pumping iron and working out. Basic age is 19-30 years old and dress is simple. Jeans and t-shirts. Masculine men here looking for the same. Lot of hunks but not boys or queens here..

Red
Red Parrot occupies a city block. The huge gutted out warehouse building, is currently a top draw in the city. The decor is simple and streamlined nothing extravagent or too high-tech. Just mildly posh. As you walk in the door, you can pretty'
much view the entire complex. There are no obstructions or partitions. The dance floor is surrounded by a floor-toceiling fence which gives the effect of a cage. (Get it? Red parrot in a cage?). The Red Parrot Orchestra plays big band music between sets of disco spun by the d.j. But the waiters really impressed

Red Parrot 617 W. 57th. Nightclub/dancing. Restricted door. Cover $10-16. Drinks average $4. Popular but very mixed. Some live music.
One of New York's newer night-spots, the
most. Lots of handsome boys working here. (Mostly gay). And all are donned in original tennis shirts with little red parrots in place of an alligator on them. There's also two large cages on
the premises which each
house a live red parrot; one of the few decorations here. Simplicity but still posh. Worth checking
out.
Rounds 303 E. 53rd St. No cover. Piano bar/ restaurant. Very cruisey. Lots of hustlers. Beautiful people. Always HOTT. Extremely busy from 11 p.m.-3 a.m.
When I first walked in to Rounds, I thought I had died and went to heaven! I mean really, I never seen soooooo many beautiful boys; and the men weren't bad looking either. (By boys and men I'm referring to the hustlers as boys and men as the buyers.) As I sipped a drink from the bar, I realized what was going on here. It was a very high-class hustling bar. Very high class. The complex itself is a plush piano bar and on one side it's a restaurant with fabulous food. The atmosphere is relaxed and between piano sets, good disco music is played.
The clientele is welldressed. No riff-raff al15
